Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is an international initiative begun by the Society of Neuroscience and the Dana Alliance in 1996. It is a global campaign to increase public understanding of neuroscience and advocate for science funding in brain research. Although each year Brain Awareness Week is observed during the third week of March, many programs operate throughout the year.

Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Council (CSTC) is very pleased to announce the first nationwide brain awareness week campaign in Iran. CSTC as the main coordinator of this campaign unites the efforts of government agencies, Ministry of Science, research and technologies, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Learned Societies, universities, schools, and Tehran Municipality to increase awareness of the progress and benefits of neurological research in a week-long campaign in Iran. Activities are limited only by the organizers’ imaginations and include exhibitions about the brain; lectures on brain-related topics; social media campaigns; and more.

The 2016 national Brain Awareness Week campaign is from February 27 to March 4. Further information will be announced soon.
